About

I’m Wren, a incoming Junior and Bedford Scholar at Foxcroft School, where I am pursuing a concentration in Fine Arts. I am fascinated with all forms of art, but have taken a particular interest in the art of the Italian Renaissance. I have now studied art for years, both in and outside of school, and plan to continue on that path.

I was awarded Foxcroft’s Inspired Summer Learning Grant to help me fund my Wrenaissance™. I spend my summer researching the Renaissance and learning about the lives of the artists.

My mission is to ignite a love for Renaissance art in other teens by bringing it to life through fun, relatable content.

OBJECTIVES

Introduce classical art to a modern teen audience in a fun, lighthearted and engaging way with an online presence.

Further my art education by learning about and from the Renaissance greats, immersing myself in the study of renowned artists from the era.

ART INSTRUCTION

I took 10 private lessons with international award winning artist, J Douglas, who is based in hunt country, Virginia. My emphasis was on learning the art styles and techniques of the Renaissance, such as realism, which emphasizes lifelike representation and intricate detail; linear perspective, creating depth and three-dimensionality; and Chiaroscuro, the use of strong contrasts between light and dark.

Each class had a specific focus, from facial elements to perspective.
