My Date with Carpaccio

I didn’t know that I had such a thing for flying baby heads until I met up with Carpaccio. A favorite of the 19th century painters, Carpaccio snuck in the vibrant everyday life of Venice into his work. He also maintaining traditional religious imagery that was common in other artwork from that era. I’m a sucker for a good story arc, and I appreciated how Carpaccio was able to convey so much emotion and storytelling within his paintings.

Fun fact: the Italian dish Carpaccio (a meal consisting of raw, thinly sliced beef) was named after the vivid red hues used in his art!
